Mz Berry’s Ex-Boyfriend Exposes Her

Published by Starr Rhett on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 11:00 am.

In last Monday’s explosive For the Love of Ray J reunion show, Cocktail and Ray J had a spat which clearly showed that they probably still had feelings for each other. It didn’t help that Mz Berry said that she hadn’t seen Ray J in five months since the show wrapped, meanwhile, Cocktail is blowing up his spot saying that he has been in touch with a few of the other girls (herself included) from the show since taping ended. Here’s the kicker, Cocktail said she felt that Ray J wasn’t ready to be a one-woman man. People felt bad for Mz Berry, saying that she ended up looking like a fool and that she was too classy to go through that.

However, word on the street is that Mz Berry might not be as innocent as she appears. A man named Stew who is described as a “big radio personality in Tampa, Fla” called in to Girl Talk With TT Torrez on iPower 92.1 to blow up Mz Berry’s spot. He says that he’s her ex-boyfriend (not husband) and that not only did Mz Berry finalize her divorce right before taping the show (August 2009), but that she was fresh out of their relationship when she started the show (they began dating that May), and allegedly told Stew that she only went on the show because he wasn’t speaking to her. Stew said that she was in the process of getting a divorce when he began dating her but broke it off because he felt that she could have a change of heart at any minute and go back to her husband (ie, Stew felt like the side piece). He also said that she was very high maintenance (“a Gucci and Prada girl”) and too much of a jealous girlfriend. Remember the five month gap that Mz Berry brought up on the reunion show? Stew claims that she and he were having a relationship during that hiatus (by the way, Mz Berry’s ex-husband and Stew don’t get along). He also added that while on the show, Mz Berry hid the fact that she can sing and used to be in a group. Hmmm…

Despite throwing her under the bus, he said that she’s a good woman without all the drama (gee, that’s nice). I doubt that he’s lying, but my thing is, what would he have to gain from exposing her since he’s an accomplished radio personality? Could it be that he still has feelings for her? I guess he didn’t like the fact that she made herself seem like a goody two-shoes, low- maintenance woman. Either way this is way too much drama.

Do you believe this story? Was Mz Berry faking the funk?

Poprah Talks To BET: “Danger’s Trying To Extend Her 15 Minutes.”

Published by Michael Arceneaux on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 12:52 am.

poprah-danger

“They trying to make it like Poprah is just a bully against this little crazy girl who just needs some help,” said Poprah who reached out to me to offer her side of the story on the alleged “beef” between her and fellow VH1 reality star, Danger.

As reported yesterday, Danger arrived at a benefit event for Haiti at the Laugh Factory Poprah hosted and caused a scene with eccentric antics that’s since become her trademark.

Poprah says before the show even got started she found Danger sitting on stage talking with the audience.

She says she initially played along but noticed Danger didn’t want to exit the stage. For those that wondered why she didn’t call security, Poprah pointed out: “No one ever came because they thought it was an act, like a routine that we made it but I don’t know this b*tch and I never met her a day in my life.”

Once Danger finally did leave and take her seat she allegedly started to pour water on the audience from above and heckled the comedians on stage. Poprah claims she also had an attitude the moment she arrived…uninvited.

Many across the blogosphere (self-included) think Danger’s personality can be described with the words almonds, cashews, and peanuts.

According to Poprah, though, she may have more sense than she lets on.

Poprah says the girl who cried wolf and gay rumors showed up with her camera crew and asked, “Where are all of the celebrities and when are they coming?”

And as we saw from the video footage after a while things obviously got heated between the two. But, Poprah claims that building animosity was exactly what Danger was looking for.

Poprah says she tried to interview her in an effort to expose her as someone simply looking for attention. Poprah explained: “Before she came on the carpet she said to me, ‘Poprah you need to just chill out because this will be a good beef, we can make money off of this.’”

Poprah added that she wanted people to see she wasn’t a part of Danger’s act and that her antics might have been part of an act.

On whether or not she thinks Danger is as crazy as she lets on, Poprah quipped:  “I think she does have a couple of screws loose, but the other side of it is she’s running around trying go into legitimate situations and create problems because Ray J ain’t giving her own show and she’s trying to keep her 15 minutes of fame popping.”

A good way to keep those 15 minutes alive would be drum up beef in Hollywood and pull stunts like say, channeling your inner Firemarshall Bill.

TMZ reported yesterday that the L.A. Fire Department received a 911 call from Danger’s apartment complex. Once they got there they noticed the fire had already been extinguished. Once arson investigators arrived to the scene Danger was detained and is currently under a 72-hour watch.

Based on what Poprah told me it sounds like Danger would love the audience.

Somebody get that girl a psychiatrist and an agent before she burns some other person’s house down accidentally on purpose or ends up on the sidewalk with a bruise as a second face tattoo.

Poprah Suggests Dr. Drew’s Rehab For Danger

Published by Starr Rhett on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 11:00 am.

PoprahDanger
This is probably the most interesting beef I’ve seen since Jay-Z vs. Nas. I’m exaggerating, but still very serious. Poprah from I Want to Work For Diddy (season one) vs. Danger from For the Love of Ray J Season Two made me stop what I was doing to watch the madness. I’m confused about how it started but Poprah was interviewing Danger on the red carpet at a Haiti benefit and the pair got into a squabble.

Get this: Poprah, from what I saw, didn’t provoke it (at first). Poprah was asking Danger really good questions—professionally—and trying to give her a platform so that she could address the rumors surrounding her recent interviews where she made reckless statements about Ray J’s sexuality. However, instead of answering the questions like a sane human being, she rattled off random sarcastic blurts about her Creole/Mexican heritage and being royalty (and then I heard the Twilight Zone theme music playing softly in the distance). It gets better…

You know Poprah wasn’t having it! At the end of the “interview,” she reminded Danger that “crack kills” and suggested that Dr. Drew contact her asap. Danger walked away and continued running her mouth, so Poprah got in her face and told her to “act like a mature adult.” Danger promptly threatened to have someone kill Poprah because she has “that much power.”

I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried, just watch the clip:

Mz Berry Wins the Love of Ray J

Published by Starr Rhett on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 11:00 am.

Ray J chose his girlfriend last night—again. And based on the outcome I think we’ll be watching For the Love of Ray J Season 3 this fall. Ray J claims there will be no more but I don’t believe it. Mz Berry seemed cool but she wasn’t the right choice and neither was runner up, Platinum. Mama Norwood told him that none of those women were right for him and I agree (mother’s always know). He should have picked Shardonnay from season one. I’m still mad about that but I digress.

Last night’s episode was the usual fare. Ray J went on separate dates with each girl to help him make his final decision. He said,”Platinum connects with the man that I am now and Mz Berry connects with the man that I wanna be.” (A divorcee with two kids?).

“Keeping it one hunned,” as always, was the primary theme of the show (side eye) and in the end his reasoning for choosing Mz Berry was because he wanted to try something new because Platinum “felt like a lot of relationships that he had in the past” (um yeah, she looks like Cocktail and Kim Kardashian’s love child).

Good luck Ray J, and see you soon. You’ll be back. They always come back. His show is too entertaining for producers to let him be.

Danger Loses Custody of Daughter

Published by Michael Arceneaux on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 12:00 am.

danger1

I long for the days when the word danger was simply synonymous with actual trouble – or at least that Mystikal song.

Times were just simpler then.

In any event, now when it comes to the world of reality TV – which seemingly rules the world now – when you say Danger you think of the troubled VH1 contestant from For the Love of Ray J.

Then you get sad, or at least should if you have followed her story.

Only a month ago was Monica Danger placed on psychiatric hold. Rumors swirled that the reality star suffered from post-partum depression and had a strong sense of anger towards the father of her child.

A week ago, audio of her interview with DJ Whoo Kid surfaced. In it Danger alleged to have info on Ray-J, Mariah Carey, and Nick Cannon. She was looking to be paid off in order to keep quiet about whatever gossip she made up in her mind.

In the interview Danger sounded like she needed a hug and a prescription, which explains why TMZ is reporting that she’s lost custody of her newborn baby.

Indeed, the site confirmed with L.A. Child Protective Services that her daughter has been placed in the custody of her father, Nick Cannon’s brother Gabriel, last week.

Here’s to hoping the reality star spends more time getting herself together and stop issuing idle threats to people looking to exploit any thirsty “celebrity-adjacent” personality for traffic.

Danger Placed on Psychiatric Hold

Published by Michael Arceneaux on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 12:00 am.

danger-balleralert

Monica Danger, who took part in the first season of VH1’s For the Love of Ray J, was recently placed on a 72 hour psychiatric hold following an accident with her daughter.

TMZ reports that she was admitted into a psychiatric hospital in Northern California earlier in the month.

Apparently, those surrounding the reality star became concerned when she suddenly shaved her head following a fight with the father of her child.

Another site, Baller Alert has more specific details about what factors led to her hospital stay:

Sources [tell] Baller Alert that her baby father didn’t invite her to thanksgiving dinner with his family but took the baby. She basically spent both holidays alone. Her brother was in a terrible car accident and went through a windshield and he is still in the hospital. Those incidents combined made her snap and shave her head. Concerned friends called the sheriff after she was talking crazy over the phone. She was then admitted.

Dangers’s rep told TMZ is that she was dealing with some personal issues as a result of postpartum depression.

The rep claims she is now “fine,” adding, “At this time we ask all of Danger’s fans for support and prayer.”

For the Love of Ray J (Back For More)

Published by Starr Rhett on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11:00 am.

I hate that you’re probably going to get 50 IQ points dumber after reading this post, especially after my colleague, Michael A,  posted a blog about The Wire becoming a Harvard course. But I need someone, anyone, to share this random recap that is the inaugural episode of For the Love of Ray J Season 2.

Just when you thought it was safe to turn back to Vh1 on Monday nights, they return with more shenanigans of the same variety as Real Chance of Love. I watched with no shame (surely, I can’t be alone if there’s a second season of this nonsense). Last night’s episode was the typical madness. The new batch of girls arrived at the house to proclaim their wild passionate “love” for Ray J and to begin clawing their way to his heart. The first order of business was for them to receive their stripper names nicknames based on how they looked. As you can imagine, it’s the usual assortment of wannabe models and actresses so the names varied from “Exotica” to “Gifts.”

So far, Exotica is filling the void where last season’s “Caviar” left off. Exotica is a Cape Verdian bombshell with an incoherent accent but where she ups Caviar a notch is when it comes to dubious behavior. She began solidifying her status as the Queen B of the house by interrupting other women who were trying to get one on one time with Ray J, and by making negative comments about people’s looks.

“Fetuccini” (named because of her Italian heritage) was the first girl booted because Ray J deemed her a star chaser after the house was abuzz about the fact that she allegedly dated Tyson Beckford and various other celebrities. We already know she wasn’t the only girl there with ulterior motives, but if all the girls were eliminated then there would be no show (and no random amusement). Overall, I think this is going to be good in a bad, rot your brain kind of way. But at least Ray J looks better than Real and Chance.

What do you think?

Still Got Love for Ray J?

Published by Michael Arceneaux on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 12:00 am.

rayj

You all really love reality shows based on love, don’t ya?

Have to because VH1 has built an empire out of it. The network’s latest reality star chasing “love” (of publicity, money, and fill in the blank here) is Ray J.

Ya’ll couldn’t get enough of For The Love of Ray-J and as a result VH1 has green lit another season set to premiere on November 2.

Via the press release:

For The Love of Ray J 2” will bring 19 beautiful single ladies to Ray J’s luxurious mansion in the Hollywood Hills. With the help of VH1, Ray J will be able to see first-hand who can handle his fast-paced celebrity lifestyle. From hitting the hottest spots in LA to seeing if they can deal with the pressures of being Ray J’s girl, these women will be put to the test. Every week the ladies will get a chance to convince Ray J that they can keep up with his life in the spotlight and that they will do anything “For The Love of Ray J 2.”

Week by week Ray J will narrow down his entourage of female suitors hoping that he can find that one woman who can handle his iconic life. The ladies will be put through unique challenges, dates and eliminations to prove that they have love for Ray J. In the end, one special lady will win the ultimate prize -Ray J’s heart.”

Ray J’s heart, eh? The show could be called Mr. Potato Head’s Hunt For Love and they would write the same thing. Not to mention that “heart” used to come with a spread in King, but hey, these girls can still be grateful for the blogs to extend their 90 seconds of notoriety (calling it fame is a bit much).

You can catch a sneak peek of the season premiere of For The Love of Ray J 2 on VH1.com beginning Tuesday, October 27.

Ray J Looks For Love, Round Two

Published by Starr Rhett on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 am.
RayJ

RayJ

The word around the blogosphere is that For the Love of Ray J will return for a second season. Given the track record for these types of shows, I’m not surprised. I initially brushed it off as blog rumor (since it typically takes about 10 blogs to equal one half-credible news source anyway) but did some investigating and surprise surprise, Cocktail, winner of season one, announced via her MySpace blog that she and Ray J were no longer together.

“When I was on the show, I truly fell for Ray. I invested my time, effort, and emotions into him and wanted things to work,” said Cocktail. “But the reality of reality television is that it doesn’t always work. Ray and I are no longer together. We have not been together for awhile now but we have remained friends and when we hang out we have a great time. I miss him very much and respect what decisions he has made.”

Blah blah blah anyway, she never stood a chance. I’m convinced that the contracts for these shows come with a ratings clause. If the show gets a certain amount of ratings, then season two (and possibly three) are automatic givens. Besides, who genuinely finds love in er, three weeks? I’m not complaining, it makes for great entertainment (more fuel for my reality TV addiction). Plus, anyone who goes on these shows really looking for love and not shameless promotion, is playing themselves. If you are said individual looking for 15 minutes of reality TV fame (or maybe you actually do have a crush on Ray), casting for season two has begun, as per Vh1’s website:

4.2 million viewers tuned in to see Ray J pick his leading lady on the For the Love of Ray J finale episode. Cocktail was crowned the winner and all seemed great for the happy couple. We next saw them on the reunion episode where both let viewers know they were excited to see how their relationship would progress! Ray J thought he had found “the one” but unfortunately, things didn’t work out – and he’s now single again.

As viewers saw last season, dating a hip-hip star is a full-time job which includes red carpet events, the paparazzi and handling all the crazy fans. For Ray J, dating has never been an issue – it’s finding the perfect woman that can be harder than you think… especially when you’re a celebrity. Since things didn’t exactly work out with his last girlfriend, Ray J is back to give love a second chance. As R&B’s most eligible bachelor, Ray J is determined to find a woman he can settle down with.

VH1 is looking for women with confidence, personality and class that can handle the pressure of being with a superstar and turn Ray J into a one-woman man. Beginning today, viewers and fans will have the opportunity to submit themselves for consideration on For the Love of Ray J 2. Online users can log onto VH1’s For the Love of Ray J 2 casting site at www.rayjcasting.com.

Ray J Chooses Cocktail

Published by Starr Rhett on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 12:00 pm.

Mama Norwood said it best when she said, “No, no and no” in reply to Ray J’s question, “Who do you think I should choose?” about the final three women.

After the drawn out hour and a half theatrics of last night’s episode were finally done, Ray J chose Cocktail to be his leading lady. Cocktail was a cool girl but I don’t think she was the best match, nor was Unique. I was actually hoping that last night’s episode would end in a draw, meaning that he didn’t pick either girl and that season two was only a couple of months away (which it might be given VH1’s dating show track record). However, he felt obligated to settle. The most rational decision he made last night was eliminating Danger. He started to see that she was insane which, anyone with a face tat is probably not stable but I digress.

On top of everything else, I’m still mad that Chardonnay got clipped. She was the realest most honest, and down-to-Earth girl in the house. I wish she had won. It appeared as though they had a lot of chemistry but if Ray J only felt her as a friend, then so be it.

The reunion show will be interesting. I’d like to see if Cocktail and Ray J are still interested in pursuing a relationship after three months of separation. Something tells me that seasons two, three, four and five might be in effect. OK, I’m exaggerating, or maybe that’s wishful thinking.
