Inspired by the success of the “Get Betty White on SNL” campaign, a number of Chaka Khan stans have congregated on Facebook to push a dream: an entire episode of Glee dedicated to Chaka.
That’s right—a Facebook page has been launched, and so far over 1000 fans have asked that “Chaka, Chaka Khan” get her due on the popular musical comedy.
For a while now, a number of the show’s melanin-plus fans have wondered when producers would feature the music of a Black singer on the show.

Our favorite glee clubbers have been stepping up their song selections lately so it should come as no surprise that they will tackle Michael Jackson. There are so many MJ songs that they can do but according to Entertainment Weekly, Glee will be tackling “Thriller” for their post-Super Bowl episode but their version has a twist. They will perform The King of Pop’s classic as a mash-up with another song, which hasn’t been chosen yet.
Although “Thriller” is featured in the episode, this isn’t a Michael Jackson tribute episode. There will also be covers of tunes by Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum, and Katy Perry. According to Entertainment Weekly’s source this will be the most expensive episode in Glee’s history and likely one of televsion’s priciest episodes ever.
The post-Super Bowl episode will instead keep with the evening’s sports theme and focus on the local football championship and Sue Sylvester’s cheerleading regionals as the “Thriller” mash-up will be played during halftime of the onscreen pigskin game.
This is probably going to be an epic episode. Are you excited Gleeks?

Fox confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow will be singing a toned down version of Cee Lo’s popular song, “F–k You” on Glee in two weeks. Instead of “F–k You,” it’s going to be “Forget You,” which is the lamer version that packs less umph, but I digress.
I’m curious to see what Paltrow’s character is going to be like because I can think of at least three other characters (*coughs* Mr. Schue, Arty, Kurt) who should probably sing the song before she does, but maybe they’ll surprise us. Knowing Glee, it’s probably going to be satirical of her real life persona. She’s posh and well-off so it could be that on the show, she gets mad about not being able to purchase some luxury item. Either that, or they’re going to make her some kind of ugly lunch lady lamenting about unrequited love.
There’s so many ways this can go but I still maintain that the song is more suited for some of the other characters first. What do you think Gleeks?

Actor David Alan Grier will be making his way to the FOX musical hit, Glee, in the near future.
The In Living Color veteran announced via Twitter that he will be portraying Amber Riley’s father on the show.
Grier (by way of someone else who works for him) tweeted: “David Alan Grier has just been cast as “Jasper” the singing, dancing homeless, estranged Dad of “Mercedes” in a 3 show arc on Fox’s Glee.”
You know, I have to say I’ve been losing a little interest in this show. I adore the Sue character, but I often find myself fast-forwarding the musical numbers. It’s kind of like how I do Tyler Perry plays.
I understand that essentially defeats the purpose, but whatever. Anywho, I do love “Mercedes” and I don’t mind her singing so I’ll be checking this out.

The cast of Glee will sing Jay-Z’s“Empire State of Mind” on Tuesday’s season premiere. Artie (Kevin McHale), Finn (Cory Monteith), and Puck (Mark Salling) will be doing the rapping while Mercedes (Amber Riley) will lead the rest of the crew in singing Alicia Keys’ hook. Gleeks everywhere are probably rejoicing, but that’s only the beginning. The new season will feature bigger songs as well new villainous characters. Some of the students will find new nemeses among their peers, while the teachers will get an antagonist who is worse than Sue Sylvester. Check out the trailer below (there’s a snippet of “Empire State of Mind” toward the end):

While many fans of Glee are giddy over the Britney Spears-themed episode looming to air later in the fall, others are wondering when someone with more melanin will get their shine on.
You know, given Madonna and Lady GaGa have already received their tributes.
It seems at least one cast member of the show shares that sentiment.
If the super-talented Amber Riley has her way, Beyonce might be the next pop act to be paid homage on the musical comedy.
Amber recently said she would love for Bey to get her own episode, telling Hollyscoop, “Yeah, that would be like top.”
Between her character, Mercedes, and her gay BFF on the show, Kurt, I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to cover the catalog.
Besides, those two need to enjoy the spotlight for most of an episode anyway.

Glee, Wanda Sykes and RuPaul’s Drag Race picked up GLAAD awards on Saturday. The 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards was presented by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation at the Hyatt Regent Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
Glee won an award for Best Comedy. Out writer/co-creator Ryan Murphy accepted the award with cast members including Jane Lynch, whom he thanked for using the show’s “national platform” to talk about her engagement to her longtime partner Lara Embry and tipped his hat to her fellow out cast member Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt.
Wanda Sykes snagged the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, which is presented to an LGBT media professional for promoting equal rights.
“I want to thank the Fox network for allowing me to do the show I’m doing; it’s like Rupert Murdoch buying back all the hate — like I’m saving him from going to hell,” Sykes joked during her acceptance speech.
Lastly, RuPaul’s Drag Race was named Outstanding Reality Program.
You all better work! I love when forward thinking people and programming get the props they deserve. We take things like this for granted but shows like Glee, which promote diversity and acceptance, and people like Wanda Sykes and RuPaul probably help to save a lot of lives and self-esteem.
This was the second of three ceremonies. The organization has more to announce on Jun 5 in San Francisco. Keep up the good work!

Two of my favorites, Lady Gaga and Glee, will be joining forces soon. Yup! The pop sensation has agreed to guest star on the cult favorite show.Glee’s creator, Ryan Murphy, says they reached out not only to feature her catalog of hits but also to get the real thing, and she agreed; so expect to see some bad romancing, telephoning and paparazzi madness this season (that was corny but I couldn’t resist!).
I. Cannot. Wait. They should make Lady Gaga play a creepy substitute teacher who develops a romantic relationship with one of the male students. (Get it? Bad romance?) That would be great. But anyway, the new season of Glee returns to Fox on April 13.
And speaking of pop divas, you can also expect to see an upcoming tribute to Madonna this season. It hasn’t been confirmed whether Madge will appear on the show, but 10 of her songs will definitely be included in the repertoire. Jennifer Lopez has also been confirmed for an upcoming appearance. However, I suspect Lady Gaga is going to be the best.

My fellow Gleek American Citizens:
Michelle Obama has invited the cast of Gleeto perform at the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, April 5 according to Entertainment Weekly, and they have confirmed the date (*back flips).
Word on the street is that Shelly O. and her daughters are huge fans of the show. I don’t know about y’all, but I may have to make a trip to DC and disguise myself as a secret service agent so that I can get in to this party—strictly for blogging purposes of course. I might be able to snag some more Glee news. OK, who am I kidding? But I digress.
In other news, the Glee Club is doing really well. Their album, Glee The Music Volume 1 just debuted at No. 1 on the UK album charts, ahead of Lady GaGa and the new season starts April 13 at 9/8c.
Am I way too excited about this or are there other Glee fans out there who want to crash the party with me?

I know all you Gleeks out there are still coming down from the Golden Globes high, myself included. (Note to the normal folk: A “Gleek” is a Glee fan). But don’t lose your excitement just yet. Jennifer Lopez fans and hopefully Justin Timberlake fans respectively, may have more to sing and shout about in the next couple of months.
Executive producer Brad Falchuk confirms that Jennifer Lopez is in talks to come on the show this season as a cafeteria worker.
“Discussions are ongoing and we haven’t gotten into the episode(s) she’d be appearing in,” Falchuk tells E! online.
I’m not convinced about the strength of J.Lo’s vocal skill set and how much she’d bring to the show (other than her dancing) but Glee star Lea Michelle (who plays Rachel Berry) says that her dream guest would be Justin Timberlake (Now, that’s more like it!).
“I’m rooting for Justin Timberlake,” she says. “Aside from being an incredible singer and dancer, he’s also a fantastic comedic actor, and that is a great cocktail for being on Glee. And I think he and Matt [Morrison] would have a fantastic dance-off.”
I agree. Hopefully producers get on that asap! They’d probably bring Timberlake in as the heart throb new kid in school. But until then, I guess it’s fishnets, bouffants and hairnets for us. I have a feeling that J.Lo is going to be a sexy lunch lady (if that’s possibly).
